Obituary of Dora Edna Ash

Funeral Services for Dora Edna Ash of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Tillotson, Ryan Shaw, Blake Shaw, Jordan Shaw, Jacob Shaw, Bob Ince, Brent Teasley and Dale Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Teasley and Terry Eivins. Mrs. Ash, 97, passed away Saturday evening, November 30, 2013 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born February 14, 1916 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Benjamin Nelson and Cara Blakey Teasley. She was united in marriage on December 16, 1939 in Pike County, MO, to Raymond Ash. This union was blessed with one daughter, Carolyn. She worked for several years as a seamstress at the garment factory. She was also employed for a number of years as a teacher's aid in the Elsberry Elementary School. Dora Edna was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Cara Teasley; six brothers: George Teasley, John Teasley, Jake Teasley, Callie Teasley, Frank Teasley and Howard Teasley; five sisters: Ida Gibson, Alice Briggs, Nellie Dodson, Louella Colbert and Berniece Tillotson; and her beloved husband of 44 years, Raymond Ash, who died August 29, 1984. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Shaw and her husband, Terry, of Elsberry; two grandchildren: Ryan Shaw and his wife, Lori, of Fulton, MO, and Blake Shaw and his wife, Jenni, of Kansas City, MO; and six great-grandchildren: McKenzie and Jordan Shaw of Fulton, and Jacob, Abby, Andrew and Zachary Shaw of Kansas City. She also leaves a special friends and caretakers, Laura Evans and Debbie Smith, both of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry United Methodist Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
