Obituary of Edwin Clem Bauer
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edwin Clem "Epp" Bauer of O'Fallon, MO, formerly of Old Monroe, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe. Father Rich Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be David Gipson, Joe Ratkewicz, Sam Tricamo, Ben Pellerito, David Bauer and Lewis Bauer.
Mr. Bauer, 92, passed away Tuesday morning, November 12, 2013 at his home near O'Fallon. Born May 4, 1921 in Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of Paul and Appolonia Dreisewerd Bauer. He served his country in the U.S. Army from April 5, 1946 until he was honorably discharged on May 1, 1947. He was united in marriage on February 14, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe to Harriet Wilhelmina Harke. This union was blessed with eleven children: Richard, Fran, Marie, Therese, Jackie, Paul, Tom, Tony, Jesse, Ann and Rose. A lifelong resident of southern Lincoln and northern St. Charles Counties, Mr. Bauer was a farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish at Old Monroe; and was a member of the Old Monroe American Legion Post #420.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Appolonia Bauer; five brothers: Paul Bauer, Jr., Cornelius Bauer, Arthur Bauer, Victor Bauer and Leander Bauer; three sisters: Esther Bauer, Madeline Gibson and Sally Ohlmes; one son, Richard Bauer; and one son-in-law, John Ratkewicz.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Harriet Bauer of O'Fallon; ten children: Fran Ratkewicz of St. Peters, MO, Marie Tricamo and her husband, Jim, of Defiance, MO, Therese Gipson and her husband, Bob, of St. Peters, Jackie Gunn and her husband, Michael, of Lubbock, TX, Paul Bauer and his wife, Daleen, of St. Louis, MO, Tom Bauer and his wife, Rachel, of Winfield, MO, Tony Bauer of Elsberry, MO, Jesse Bauer and his wife, Terri, of St. Paul, MO, Ann Pellerito of St. Peters, and Rose Bambrick and her husband, Scott, of St. Peters; 24 grandchildren and11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers: Sylvester Bauer and his wife, Gen, of St. Peters, and James Bauer and his wife, Ruth, of O'Fallon; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Bauer of O'Fallon; one brother-in-law, Glennon Ohlmes of Orchard Farms, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO; and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at Immaculate Conception Church. Memorials may be made to Masses, Immaculate Conception School, or to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry at Immaculate Conception Parish in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
