Obituary of Rose Aleene Crank
Funeral Services for Rose Aleene Crank of Louisiana, MO, formerly of Annada, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Annada Community Christian Church in Annada, MO. Rev. Bob Norvel, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph V. Crank, Jr., Scott Ogilvie, Dan Lensing, Louis Busch, Bob Wright and Cecil Hupper.
Ms. Crank, almost 101, passed away Saturday evening, November 9, 2013 at her home in Lynn's Heritage House in Louisiana, MO. Born November 15, 1912 in Annada, MO, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Kate May Gibson Crank. She was a 1931 graduate of Paynesville High School, and earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Kirksville State Teachers College in 1942. With a 43 year teaching career, she began teaching at the Annada School (one room) for eighteen years until it closed in the early 1950s, then taught at Clarksville for six years. She taught at the Pattonville School District and in the Hazelwood Public School System (Lusher Elementary and Armstrong Elementary), retiring in 1976.
She was a lifelong member of the Annada Community Christian Church. Active in her community, Rose served as Mayor of Annada for several years. She was a board member and longtime treasurer of the Pike County Nurses Fund and managed the scholarship program for many years. She was a member of the Coterie Club of Clarksville, and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Tom and Kate Crank; five brothers: August "Gus" Eastin Crank, Thomas Gibson Crank, Ralph Vernon Crank, Sr., Sam Crank and Charles Mountjoy Crank; one sister, Willene Irvine Crank; two sister-in-law: Willanna Omohundro Crank and Margaret Barnett Crank; and one nephew, Gary Thomas Crank.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Melba Crank Galloway of Elsberry; several nieces and nephews: Dr. Barbara Jean Crank Palmer of Lawrence, KS, Ralph V. Crank, Jr. of Clarksville, MO, Dr. Connie Barnett Crank Price of Lawrence, KS, Charlie Mountjoy Crank, II of San Antonio, TX, Kathryn "Kathy" Lyn Crank of Elsberry, MO, Kristy Aleene Crank Ogilvie of Basehor, KS, and Debra Lynn Crank Lewis of Paynesville, MO, several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Annada Community Christian Church. Memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Cemetery, Pike County Nurses Fund or the Annada Community Christian Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
