Obituary of Kathy Dawn Henke
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathy "Kate" Dawn Henke of Moscow Mills, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, MO. Fr. Tom Wissler, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Troy. Serving as pallbearers will be Jordan Lasater, Jonah Lasater, James Lasater, Daniel Henke, Ron Henke and Dan Shafer.
Mrs. Henke, 57, passed away Thursday morning, October 24, 2013 at her home in Moscow Mills. Born June 9, 1956 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Hershel Doyle and Joyce Dean Paschal Lasater. She was a 1974 graduate of Winfield High School, and graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She was united in marriage on June 16, 1979 in Old Monroe to Rick Allen Henke. This union was blessed with three children: Jill, Jennifer and Daniel. She taught for several years at Immaculate Conception School near Old Monroe, MO, and at St. Alphonsus School in Millwood near Silex, MO. For the past 21 years, Rick and Kate have owned Moscow Feed and Grain where Kate serves as office manager and bookkeeper. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hershel Lasater in 2001 and Joyce Lasater in 2010.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 34 years, Rick Henke of Moscow Mills; three children: Jill Henke of St. Louis, MO, and Jennifer Henke of Troy, and Daniel Henke of Moscow Mills; one granddaughter Emily Henke of Troy, MO. She also leaves two brothers: Lee Lasater and his wife, Marilu, of Silex, and Todd Lasater of St. Louis; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart School (for Playground or Sports Equipment) in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
