Ed Freise was a kind and dear friend of mine and my family. He was a pillar of the community no doubt and his kindness spreads through his family. Whether is was working with him on a building project or playing a round of golf he was always a pleasure to be around. We will miss his smile and positive attitude towards everything. My father, David Harke worked with Ed and Dennis for many years and my dad had nothing but respect for Ed as a friend and business mentor. That respect was passed on to me through many stories and showings of friendship and respect from Ed even after my dad's passing. Ed is one of those guys you never forget and the memories of him will be with me until I hopefully join him someday. Knowing Ed he will be in the Green Seats, I'll be in the bleachers.

"Eddie" was a very special member of our family. Most impacted by his
Christian witness. He was one who prayed Vic and I into Cursillo ,
for those unfamiliar....it is a Catholic Spiritual Renewal Weekend. We shared
wonderful faith experiences since that time. Just recently, I (Joan) have been
invited to serve as a Leader for an upcoming weekend and I invited Mary Ann
to be on team. She had great reservations about doing this since Eddie's health issues had become more intense. But, with assurance from Eddie to participate- his words to her " you do it, maybe you can be a help to someone else". He cared about others first... He will be a big part of our team, without a doubt. Most grateful!

Our condolences to Marie and the entire Freise family. We will always remember the weekend we spent with the Freise family, attending a St. Louis Cardinals-Cleveland Indians game together (fairly certain the Indians lost that one in a "sea of St. Louis red") and having a wonderful time getting to know your parents, sisters, and their families. There are no words to take away your sorrow and your pain but without a doubt your dad is now safe in God's embrace, enjoying the eternal life he worked so hard on earth to achieve. My guess is that my dad and your dad have met up and are having a great reunion "on the other side". Each of you is in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.

Ed and I entered the Army together in 1954 and were in the same company for the first eight weeks of basic training. He went to Fort Riley Kansas and I went to Fort Leanord Wood Missouri for our second eight weeks of training.
The next time I saw him we were on the same boat going to Germany. We parted in Germany for 18 months and then lo and behold here was Ed on the same boat coming home. Our next interaction was on the School Board at Winfield. We served together for four years. Ed was a valuable member since he knew the construction trade so well and we were adding new buildings regularly. I valued my time with Ed. He was a great guy.

When my Dad was sick and home bound Ed would come to visit him and help pass the hours with talk of the "old" days. They talked about baseball, religion, football and family-not necessarily in that order. Dad always enjoyed his visits with Ed and I'm sure they are talking Cardinal baseball now with each other.
Mary Ann and family, you are in our prayers.

Ed Freise was a solid man of strength and love. He was a complete joy to visit with when I would hang out with Colleen through our high school years. He had a wit about him like none other. I loved his laugh! He will be missed. Congratulations, Mr. Freise, on leading a life of love!

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We both know the pain of losing a father. We know he was a wonderful man because of the family he has. We don't really have any specific memories, but do know we enjoyed seeing him and talking to him at several ballgames! Our sympathy to all.

I'm just thankful that he was not only my brother-in-law but also my friend. Even though he made me eat green beans when I was a kid, I still loved him. I could list a zillion memories of Eddie from going to Big Red and Rams games together, playing pinochle and sharing our Cursillo experience together. But it was our conversations we had about faith and the love of Christ that I will always remember.
