Obituary of Alice M. Chambers

Funeral Services for Alice M. Chambers of St. Charles, MO, formerly of Old Monroe, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winfield, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Shaun Pallardy, Sam Chambers, Ben Chambers, John Lindsey, Jamie Lindsey and Patrick Lindsey. Mrs. Chambers, 83, passed away Friday afternoon, September 27, 2013 at Mount Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles. Born May 5, 1930 in Winfield, MO, she was the daughter of Roy Frank and Daserine M. Smith Elston. Raised in Winfield, she was a 1948 graduate of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on September 20, 1948 in Old Monroe, MO to Charles C. Chambers. This union was blessed with two children: Tony and Maria Ann. She was employed for 30 years as a Librarian at the St. Charles County Library, retiring in 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Daserine Elston; and her daughter, Maria Ann Knight who died October 12, 2000. Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Charley Chambers of St. Charles; one son, Tony Chambers and his wife, Sue; and four grandchildren: Shaun Pallardy, Ben Chambers, Sam Chambers and Toni Knight Uthoff. She also leaves one brother, Paul Elston and his wife, Betty; three sisters: Ruby Lindsey and her husband, Larry, of Winfield, Norma Sommers of O'Fallon, MO, and Phyllis Duncan and her husband, Howard, of Winfield; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
