Obituary of Virgil LeRoy Hamman

Graveside Services for Virgil LeRoy Hamman, also known as Roy V. Hammon, of Foley, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at Bethany Cemetery near Winfield, MO. Rev. Raymond Doussard, Chaplain of TIP Hospice, will officiate. Mr. Hamman, 86, passed away Tuesday morning, September 17, 2013 at his home. Born May 3, 1927 in Leadwood, MO, he was the son of Adolph and Emily Miller Hamman. He was united in marriage on May 7, 1945 in Leadwood to Imogene Belle Marler. This union was blessed with six children: Roy, Richard, Steve, Donna, Carol and Patricia. He worked as a commercial carpenter. He was a 50 year member of St. Louis Carpenters Local #1795. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Emily Hamman; one son, Roy Hammon; and one sister, Lorene Marler. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Imogene Hamman; two sons: Richard Hammon and his wife, Donna, of St. Charles, MO and Steve Hammon of Troy, MO; three daughters: Donna Thornhill and her husband, Stephen, of Foley, Carol Reece of O'Fallon, MO and Patricia Wilkerson of Park Hills, MO; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers: Irvin Hamman of Park Hills and Clarence Hamman and his wife, Lola of Desoto, MO; one sister, Gladys Sumpter and her husband, Udal, of Farmington, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
