Obituary of John Peter Schopp

Funeral Services for John Peter Schopp of Moscow Mills, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Van Williams, Community Loving Care Hospice Chaplain, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Hoelting, Greg Shular, Austin Shular and Josh Hoelting. Mr. Schopp, 71, passed away late Friday morning, August 16, 2013 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born September 6, 1941 in St. Louis County, MO, he was the son of Lester Elmer and Irma Mueller Schopp. He was united in marriage on July 10, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Jean Leslie Urich. This union was blessed with three children: John, Patty and Tammy. He owned AA Conditioned Air – Jefferson County for many years, retiring in 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Irma Schopp; three sisters: Louise Fitzegerald and her husband, Bob, Kit Scurlock and her husband, Harry, and Martha Bertelsmyer and her husband, Jim; and two brothers: Elmer Schopp and Lester Schopp. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean Schopp of Moscow Mills; one son, John L. Schopp of Piedmont, MO; two daughters: Patty Hoelting and her husband, Jerry, of Old Monroe, MO and Tammy Shular and her husband, Greg, of Sarasota, FL; ten grandchildren: Shannon Schopp, Melissa Schopp, John Schopp, Tiffany Anderson, Reba Anderson, Josh Hoelting, Sophee Hoelting, Austin Shular, Tabitha Shular and Sam Schopp; and ten great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters: Marie Hannah of Eldon, MO and Ruth Akridge and her husband, Bill, of Imperial, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
