Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Mary Agnes Burkemper A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Agnes Burkemper of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, and Fr. Randy Tochtrop of New Madrid, MO, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hansen, Eric Hansen, Emily Detert, Jessica Detert, Leon Burkemper and Jess Burkemper. Mrs. Burkemper, 72, died Friday evening, December 9, 2005 at her home in Old Monroe. Born April 9, 1933 in Josephville, near Wentzville, MO, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Hakenewerth Wilmes. She was united in marriage on October 26, 1957 in Josephville, MO to Kenneth Henry Burkemper. This union was blessed with two daughters, Theresa and Elizabeth. Mary was truly devoted to her husband and making a loving home for her family. She was strong in her faith to God and Our Lord Jesus. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, the Ladies' Sodality and the Quilters. Besides her parents, Anthony and Anna Wilmes, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Melvin Burkemper; one sister, Irene Eisenbath; four brothers: Elmer Wilmes, Clarence Wilmes, Edgar Wilmes and Anthony J. Wilmes; one sister-in-law, Veronica Wilmes; and two brothers-in-law: Louis Roettger and Urban Eisenbath. Survivors include her beloved husband of 48 years, Kenny Burkemper of Old Monroe; their daughters: Theresa Detert and her husband, Dennis of Troy, MO, and Elizabeth "Betty" Hansen and her husband, Scott of Winfield, MO; and four grandchildren: Kevin Hansen, Eric Hansen, Emily Detert and Jessica Detert. She also leaves two sisters: Edna Roettger of Wentzville, and Margie Tochtrop and her husband, Walter, of Wentzville; two brothers: Alfred Wilmes and his wife, Jean, of Foristell, MO, and Urban Wilmes and his wife, Margie, of Wentzville; two sisters-in-law: Ruthie Wilmes of Wentzville, and Delores Wilmes of Troy; many, many nieces and nephews, and several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, with a Parish Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. during the visitation at the funeral home.
