Obituary of Jillian Anne Young

Funeral services for Jillian Anne Young of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Elsberry High School Gymnasium under the direction of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Lance Long, pastor of Crestwood Baptist Church, St. Louis, MO, will officiate with burial in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Young, Craig Young, Richard Edmund "Bo" Young, Jimmy Lovelace, Bryan Collins, Ryan Collins, Eric Lovelace and Michael Lovelace. Jillian, 17, died early Monday morning, March 4, 2013 the result of a car accident on Highway 79 near Winfield, MO. Born September 6, 1995 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of William Shaw and Kimberley Ann Lovelace Young. Jillian was a member of the Junior Class at Elsberry High School. Active in many extracurricular school activities and organizations, Jillian was a Cheerleader, a member of the National Honor Society and involved with Operation Backpack, and a member of FCCLA. Jillian also participated on the basketball and softball teams and served as the Varsity Boy's Basketball Manager during the year they went to the State Tournament. For the past three years, Jillian was an active member of the Elsberry FFA Chapter. During her freshman year, she was on the Poultry Judging Contest Team; during sophomore year, she participated on the Nursery and Landscape Contest Team; and during her junior year she was a member of the Meat Evaluation Contest Team. She served as a Chapter Officer as the Sentinel this year. Jillian was also a member of the Ladies Trapshooting Team and was in the Top 15 on the FFA Points chart. She received the following awards during her FFA career: State Agri-science Plant Research Systems Proficiency Award, Chapter Nursery Operations Proficiency Award, FFA Scholarship Medal, FFA Leadership Medal and the Chapter FFA Degree. Jillian was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Richard Borland and Elizabeth Criswell Young. Survivors include her mother, Kimberley Lovelace-Young of Elsberry and father, William Young of Lake Saint Louis, MO; Kim's fiancé, Donnie Mantle of Elsberry; William's special friend, Marianne Knibbs of Lake Saint Louis; three brothers: Richard Edmund "Bo" Young of Elsberry, Will Young and his wife, Rebecca, and their son Hudson, of Collinsville, IL, and Craig Young and his wife, Rachel, of St. Louis, MO; her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Judy Lovelace of Elsberry; and Uncle Rob Lovelace and his wife, Janet, of Elsberry, Uncle Dick Young and his wife, Mary, of Gibsonia, PA, Uncle Bob Young of Cincinnati, and Aunt Bo Crispino and her husband, Chas, of Gibsonia. Jillian also leaves her boyfriend, Dillon Barber of Elsberry; her birth parents, Kristi Karaus O'Shea and Timothy Mobley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, classmates and many, many friends. Visitation will be held after 3:00 p.m. Friday evening, March 8, 2013 at the Elsberry High School Gymnasium in Elsberry.
