Obituary of Howard Randall Ross

Funeral Services for Howard Randall "Ranny" Ross of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. Allen Calkins, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Ross, Davey Ross, Eddie Ross, Jim Jenkins, Jacob Blackwood, Ray Heil and Ferd Dames. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cordsiemon, Denny Lovelace and Fred Hagemeier. Mr. Ross, 69, passed away late Monday night, January 28, 2013 at his home. Born October 26, 1943 in Elsberry, he was the son of Howard Albert and Frances Bell Beck Ross. He was a 1961 graduate of Elsberry High School. He was united in marriage on December 12, 1964 in Winfield, MO to Barbara May Hilton. This union was blessed with two children: Jeremy and Angie. He worked as a farmer for Ross Farms. He enjoyed softball, bowling and commercial fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Ross. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Ross of Elsberry; one son, Jeremy Ross and his wife, Christy, of Elsberry; one daughter, Angie Jenkins and her husband, Jim, of Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren: Jacob Blackwood, Taryn Wells and Aerial Ross. He also leaves his mother, Frances Ross of Elsberry; two brothers: David Ross and his wife, Brenda, of Foley, MO and Eddie Ross and his wife, Lori, of Elsberry; three sisters: Faye Dames and her husband, Ferd, of Palmyra, MO, Lisa Schneider of O'Fallon, MO and Ronda Heil and her husband, Raymond, of Foley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
