Obituary of Harry Samuel Van Scoyk
Mr. Harry Samuel "Sam" Van Scoyk, 63, passed away Friday morning, November 30, 2012 at his home in Elsberry, MO. Born August 8, 1949 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Henry Hoagland and Margaret Alvina Ray Van Scoyk. Sam was a graduate of Elsberry High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for many years as an over the road truck driver for Dynamic Transit Company based out of Granite City, IL, retiring in 2003. Sam was a member of the New Hope Lodge #199 AF&AM of Elsberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoagland and Margaret Van Scoyk; and one daughter, Samantha Jo Tucker.
Survivors include four sons: John Van Scoyk and his wife, Patty, of Winfield, MO, Randall Van Scoyk of O'Fallon, MO, Charles Van Scoyk and his wife, Jocelyn, of Kailua, HI and Robert Calvin and his wife, Rosetta, of Elsberry; one daughter, Tammy Bishop of MS; and nine grandchildren. Sam also leaves brother Henry "Hank" Van Scoyk and his wife, Kathy, of Tampa, FL; other relatives and friends.
Per Sam's request, there will be no services. Memorials may be made to the Family of Sam Van Scoyk in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
