Obituary of Albert Franklin Strickland

Funeral Services for Albert Franklin "Frank" Strickland, Jr. of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Corinth Christian Church in Foley, MO. Rev. Scott Groshong, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Corinth Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Bassinger, Dan Hornback, Grant Nelson, Larry Phegley, Bill Talley and Jake Vance. Mr. Strickland, 61, passed away late Thursday night, November 1, 2012 at Benchmark Healthcare in St. Charles, MO. Born January 13, 1951 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Albert Franklin and Doris Marie Mansker Strickland, Sr. He was united in marriage on April 25, 1970 in O'Fallon, MO to Carol Jean Nelson. This union was blessed with four children: Kari Ann, Christopher Lee, Becky Jean and Jesse Grant. He worked as a welder for American Iron and Steel in St. Louis for 26 years. Mr. Strickland was a member of the Corinth Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Strickland, Sr. Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol Strickland of Old Monroe; four children: Kari Ann West and her husband, Jeffrey, of San Antonio, TX, Christopher Strickland and his wife, Jennifer, of Barnett, MO, Becky Howard of Old Monroe and Jesse Strickland of Houston, TX; and twelve grandchildren: Emily Jeanne West, Alyssa Nicole West, Rachel Michelle West, Jessica Lee West, Erin Elizabeth West, Meladee Reneé Strickland, Alexxander Thomas Strickland, Weslee Elijah Strickland, Kylee Jeanne Howard, Brennan Nathaniel Howard, Jaycee Rebekah Howard and Logan Matthew Vance. He also leaves his mother, Doris Strickland of O'Fallon; mother-in-law, Selma Nelson, of Boliver, MO; two sisters: Brenda Talley and her husband, Bill, of Wright City, MO and Dottie Bassinger and her husband, Dean, of Sullivan, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
