Obituary of Stanley Joseph Ackerman

Funeral services for Stanley Joseph Ackerman of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Garry McCracken, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy, MO, will officiate with burial will be in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Ackerman, Anthony Ackerman, Jack McIntosh, Marshal Meadors, Larry Ackerman and Tim Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman, 79, passed away Sunday morning, October 28, 2012 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born June 4, 1933 in Broken Bow, NE, he was the son of Rudolph and Mary Klatka Ackerman. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged on February 20, 1956. He was united in marriage on December 31, 1955 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Shirley Ann Weaver. This union was blessed with four children: Rebecca Diane, Marla Janine, Andrew Phillip and Karin Michelle. He was employed for 37 years as a Detail Inspector for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Manufacturing in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy. He was also a member of the Winfield/Old Monroe VFW, Post # 5517. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Mary Ackerman; four brothers: Alfred Ackerman, Henry Ackerman, Clarence Ackerman and John Ackerman; and four sisters: Clara Graf, Isabelle Ackerman, Blanche Watkins and Lucyann Calton. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Shirley Ackerman of Winfield; four children: Rebecca Meadors and her husband, Marshal, of Belleville, IL, Marla Ackerman of St. Ann, MO, Andrew "Buddy" Ackerman and his wife, Elysia, of Plano, TX and Karin Ackerman-West and her husband, John, of Overland, MO; four grandchildren: Stefanie Ackerman McIntosh and her husband, Jack, Anthony Ackerman, Levi West and Mallory West; and one great-grandchild, Adair McIntosh. He also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
