Obituary of Dorothy Wenona Bacon

Funeral Services for Dorothy Wenona Bacon of Winfield, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, church pastor, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of the church. Mrs. Bacon, 87, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 21, 2012 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born November 28, 1924 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Orval and Mollie Ethlyn Simpson Argent. She graduated from Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on September 8, 1946 in Winfield to Devoid Leroy Bacon. This union was blessed with two children: Dennis Leroy and Diane. She was a housewife. Mrs. Bacon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Mollie Argent; one brother, Marion R. Argent; and her beloved husband of 64 years, Devoid Bacon, who died March 18, 2011. Survivors include one son, Dennis Bacon of Winfield; one daughter, Diane Harrison and her husband, James E., also of Winfield; one grandson, Chad Alan Rivers and his wife, LaDonna; and one great-grandchild, Dakota Lynn Alan Rivers. She also leaves one sister, Barbara D. Page and her husband, Lee, of Harrisonville, MO; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
