Obituary of Harold Eugene Vaughn

Harold Eugene Vaughn A Memorial Service for Harold Eugene Vaughn of Winfield, MO, will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Duane Elmore of Eolia, MO will officiate. Military Honors will immediately follow the service. Mr. Vaughn, 85, passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2012 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born May 4, 1926 in Blairsville, Illinois, he was the son of Carl Vaughn and Esther Fae Hopper. He served his country in the United States Army from June 15, 1944 until being honorably discharged as a Private First Class on November 5, 1945. He was united in marriage on July 19, 1977 in St. Charles, MO to Marilyn Delphine Schafer. Their home was blessed with five children: Merideth, Rhonda, Tara, Harry and Sandra. He worked as a plumber for many years for Karsten Plumbing and later Woodard Plumbing, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the VFW post in Stover, MO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Hopper; one brother, Robert Jones; and one son, Bruce Wayne Vaughn in 1997. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 35 years, Marilyn Vaughn of Winfield; three daughters: Merideth Dickey and her husband, William, of Winfield, Rhonda Schaffer and her husband, Eugene, of St. Peters, MO and Tara McKnight and her husband, Ronald, of Arlington, TX; one stepson, Harry Dietz and his wife, Marsha, of Nashville, IL; one stepdaughter, Sandra Frishkorn of Belleville, IL; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He also leaves one step-sister, Madonna Jones of Kansas City, MO; several other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
