Obituary of Derrick Alvin Blair

Funeral services for Derrick Alvin Blair of St. Charles, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church under the direction of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Brenda Cockrell, pastor of Centennial Methodist Church will officiate. Mr. Blair, 44, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles. Born October 1, 1969 in Troy, MO, he was the son of James Harold Irving, Sr. and Geanna Blair. He worked as a laborer. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Irving, Sr.; one son, Darius McCale Blair; two brothers: James Anthony Irving in infancy and Kyle Eric Blair in 2011. Survivors include five daughters: Constance McPike of Bowling Green, MO, Shey Linson of O'Fallon, MO, Ceonna Bell of Bowling Green, Alyssa Terry of Troy, MO and one who was adopted; five sons: Shaamar Steele of Louisiana, MO, Derrick DeWitt McPike of Bowling Green, Joshua Alexander McPike of Bowling Green, Daquan Blair and Xavier Blair, both of St. Louis, MO; and four grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Geanna Florence of St. Charles; two brothers: Michael Blair of St. Charles, and James H. Irving, Jr. of St. Charles; five sisters: Lisa Stanley of Fort. Worth, TX, Theresa Nunley and Shanna Florence, both of St. Charles, Wanetta Augustine and Jamie Irving, both of St. Charles County; his fiancé, Jennifer Lindsey of St. Charles; step-mother, Ruby Irving of Elsberry; one great-aunt, Helen Crumes of Elsberry; two aunts, Betty Grimmett of Bowling Green and Alene Henry and her husband, Jim, of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the family of Derrick Blair in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
