Obituary of Cheryl Cheek

Memorial services for Linda Cheryl Cheek of Elsberry, MO will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate. Mrs. Cheek, 67, passed away Friday afternoon, March 7, 2014 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born December 21, 1946 in Birmingham, AL, she was the daughter of Arnold West "A.W." and Lora Jean Black Arnold. She was a 1964 graduate of Tarrant City High School in Tarrant, AL. Cheryl was united in marriage on June 19, 1965 in Jacksonville, NC to John W. Cheek. This union was blessed with two children: Lee and Rhonda. She was employed for a number of years as a computer clerk at Harper & Row (now Harcourt) in Troy, MO, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Cheryl and John enjoyed line dancing and were members of the Lincoln County Kickers. She enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, but her real passion were her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. and Jean Arnold. Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, John Cheek of Elsberry; one son, Lee Cheek and his wife, Darcy of Venetia, PA; one daughter, Rhonda Hubbard and her husband, Jamie, of Elsberry; and 6 grandchildren: David Hency, Christopher Hency, Tristan Hubbard, Ethan Cheek, Leah Cheek and Brady Hubbard. She also leaves one brother, A.W. "Dicky" Arnold, Jr. of Ashville, AL; five sisters: Wilma Jean Hudgins, and her husband, Jerry, of Odenville, AL, Sybil L. Hudgins of El Monte, CA, Jane Bradford of Pinson, AL, Gwen Brady and her husband, Mike, of Pine Mountain, AL, and Lynn Hogan and her husband, Randy, of Hayden, AL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service (7:00 p.m.) at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or SSM Hospice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
