Obituary of Hazel R. Mershon

Hazel R. Mershon Funeral services for Hazel Rudean Mershon of Troy, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield will officiate with burial in New Galilee Cemetery near Troy. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Mershon, Dennis Mershon, Curtis Mershon, Keith Betts, Bryan Betts and Christopher Betts. Mrs. Mershon, 94, passed away Saturday morning, July 16, 2011 at Troy Manor in Troy. Born August 4, 1916 in Chantilly, MO, she was the daughter of Larry Lester and Edith Cloe Houston Parsons. She was united in marriage on February 9, 1935 in Moscow Mills, MO to William Wallace "Wally" Mershon. This union was blessed with three sons: Edward Eugene, Donald Harris and Ronnie Lee. She was an American Red Cross Volunteer and enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the Troy First Christian Church in Troy. She was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Edith Parsons; two brothers: Clifford Parsons and O.D. Parsons; one sister, Genevieve Johnson; and her beloved husband of 73 years, Wally Mershon, who died February 18, 2008. Survivors include three sons: Edward Eugene "Gene" Mershon and his wife, Patsy, of Troy, Donald Harris Mershon and his wife, Twila, of McCleary, WA, and Ronnie Lee Mershon and his wife, Terri, of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
