Obituary of Lucille Marie Whiteside

Lucille Marie Whiteside Funeral Services for Lucille Marie Whiteside of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry, MO. Rev. John Zellmer, church pastor, will officiate, with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Cohea, Raymond Shaffer, Ronnie Mayes, Benny Teasley, Steve Lilley and Jim Mayes. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Mayes, Bob Weeks and Frankie Teasley. Mrs. Whiteside, 97, passed away Friday afternoon, February 18, 2011 at the Elsberry Health Care Center. Born February 27, 1913 in Pike County, MO she was the daughter of Elmer E. and Nona F. Beckham Hearn. She was a 1932 graduate of Bowling Green High School. She was united in marriage on October 13, 1935 in Bowling Green, MO to Owen Edwards Whiteside. This union was blessed with a son, Leslie. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the New Hope Extension Club and was a former 4-H leader. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Nona Hearn; her son, Leslie Owen Whiteside who passed away May 8, 2010; two sisters: Isla Dean Goodin and Elnora Angerer; one brother, Jesse Hearn; and her beloved husband of 36 years, Owen Whiteside, who passed away January 14, 1972. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Whiteside of Elsberry; three grandchildren: Lesa Ellen Cohea and her husband, Bill, Leslie DeWayne Whiteside and his wife, Pat, and Darrell Eugene Whiteside and his wife, Meredith, all of Elsberry; their mother Barbara Norvel, and her husband John, of Elsberry; and three great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Nellie Hearn of Bowling Green, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
