Mary Ann Leclaire Funeral services for Mary Ann Cooper Leclaire of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, MO. Rev. Ray Gurney, pastor of the Cross Creek Baptist Church in Oak Grove, MO, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery in Independence. Her nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Ms. Leclaire, 80, passed away Thursday evening, January 27, 2011 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born April 9, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Gailen and Anna Violet Race Cooper. Having lived in the Independence and Atherton, MO area for most of her life, she moved to Elsberry in 1992 to be near her sister, Gail Guffey. She was a member of Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gailen and Violet Cooper; and one brother, Jack R. Cooper. Survivors include one brother, Carl G. Cooper of Oak Grove, MO; one sister, Gail Guffey and her husband, Jim, of Elsberry; one sister-in-law, LaNita (Mrs. Jack) Cooper of Holden, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, MO. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Mercy Hospice Memorial Fund or to the Charity of the Donor's Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
