Obituary of Alma E. Kirkhart

Alma E. "Betty" Kirkhart Funeral services for Alma Elizabeth "Betty" Kirkhart of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be the gentlemen of her church. Ms. Kirkhart, 84, died Sunday afternoon, November 7, 2010 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born October 19, 1926 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Norman Vincil and Lucile Rebecca Moore Kirkhart. She was a 1944 graduate of Elsberry High School. Betty was employed for 37 � years as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. A lifelong resident of Elsberry, she was a faithful member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Jesse Black Club in Elsberry, the Elsberry Senior Citizens, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Silex Chapter #80. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincel and Lucile Kirkhart; her brother, James William "Bill" Kirkhart; and her sister-in-law, Mary E. Kirkhart. Survivors include three nieces: Lynne Hayne and her husband, Chuck, Kaye Kirkhart and Terri Kirkhart, all of Elsberry; several great-nieces and great-nephews; several cousins; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
