Ronald Lee Brown A Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Lee Brown of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Vic Brown, Walter Burkemper, Mark Reller, Richard Rankin, Steve Gnade, Marc Vail and Jason Fagan. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Ron, 63, passed away Friday evening, June 25, 2010 at Barnes-St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born October 2, 1946 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Robert F. "Bob" and Alberta C. Burkemper Brown. He was a 1964 graduate of Troy High School in Troy, MO. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the U.S. Army from June, 1965 until he was honorably discharged May, 1971. He was stationed in Vietnam from May, 1969 - August, 1969. Ron was united in marriage on April 12, 1969 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy to Joyce Lynn Haarmann. This union was blessed with five daughters: Sheila, Karen, Paula, Colleen and Molly. He was employed as a salesman for Midwest Vet Supply for 26 years. For the past 13 years, he was an agent for the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Insurance Agency. Ron was a former member of the Old Monroe Fire Department, serving his community for 25 years. He was also a member of the Old Monroe American Legion Post #420. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and the Old Monroe Knights of Columbus Council #10144 where he served as Presiding Grand Knight. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Brown; his brother-in-law, Mark Bobeen and one nephew, Robb Brown. Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Joyce Brown of Old Monroe; five daughters: Sheila Rankin and her husband, Richard, of Warrensburg, MO, Karen Gnade and her husband, Steve, of Old Monroe, Paula Vail and her husband, Marc, of Old Monroe, Colleen Brown and her fianc�, Jason Fagan, of St. Peters, MO, and Molly Brown of Old Monroe; and nine grandchildren: Riley, Maggie, Richie and Abby Rankin, Malachi, Harper and Campbell Gnade, and Olivia and Louise Vail. He also leaves his mother, Alberta Brown of Old Monroe; one brother, Vic Brown and his wife, Joan, of Moscow Mills, MO; one sister, Marie Bobeen of Old Monroe; several in-laws, nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church. Knights of Columbus and American Legion Memorial Services and a Prayer Service will be held during the visitation at the church.
