Obituary of Robert Joseph Moellering

Robert Joseph Moellering Graveside services for Robert Joseph Moellering of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Fr. Raymond Hagar, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Elsberry, will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brian Moellering, John Moellering, Dan Moellering, Luke Moellering, Matthew Eckenrodt and Mike Moellering. Mr. Moellering, 82, passed away Friday morning, June 4, 2010 at his son's home near Foley, MO. Born June 12, 1927 in Florissant, MO, he was the son of Anthony and Corine Barteau Moellering. He served his country in the United States Army from December 10, 1945 until being honorably discharged on January 21, 1947. He was united in marriage on February 26, 1949 in Florissant to Rita Ann Meyer. This union was blessed with four children: Daniel, David, Mary and Laura. Mr. Moellering worked as a carpenter in residential construction for forty years. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union #47 in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Florissant until he moved to the Elsberry area and was currently a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Corine Moellering; five brothers: Ray Moellering, Art Moellering, Vernon Moellering, Everet Moellering and Frank Moellering; and three sisters: Edna Kersting, Sister Lucida Moellering and Sister Noel Moellering. Survivors include two sons: Daniel "Toby" Moellering and his wife, Cindy, of Elsberry, Dave Moellering and his wife, Niki, of Foley, MO; two daughters: Mary Moellering of Florissant, and Laura Moellering of Cooperstown, NY; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters: Dorothy Wilhelm and her husband, George, Irene Shaw, and Loretta Suchman, all of St. Charles, MO and Sister Eugene Marie Moellering of O'Fallon, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
