Obituary of Vernon Guy Marsten

Rev. Vernon Guy Marsten Funeral services for Rev. Vernon Guy Marsten of Foley, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Winds of Pentecost Church in St. Charles, MO. Rev. Rev. Tom Trimble, pastor of Winds of Pentecost Church in St. Charles, MO, Rev. Brad Nave, pastor of Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Bloomington, IL and Rev. Loy McCarty, pastor of Cornerstone Apostolic Church of Wentzville, MO will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Richards, John Marsten, Jr., Steven Marsten, Josh Linton, Michael Treaster and Terry Grohman. Rev. Marsten, 83, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2010 at his home in Foley. Born January 25, 1927 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of Guy and Hazel Monroe Marsten. He was united in marriage on June 7, 1946 in Wakefield, New Brunswick, Canada to Glenna J. McCatten. This union was blessed with three children: John, Verna and Linda. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic and then as minister for United Pentecostal Church International. Glenna passed away September 4, 2002 after 56 years of marriage. He was married again on June 19, 2004 in Hannibal, MO to Geraldine Marie Gauch. He was a member of Winds of Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Hazel Marsten; his first wife, Glenna Marsten; and one son-in-law, Roger Grohman. Survivors include his beloved wife of 5 years, Gerri Marsten of Foley; one son, John J. Marsten, Sr. and his wife, Donna, of Foley; two daughters: Verna G. White and her husband, Jerry of Heyworth, IL and Linda Grohman of Hannibal, MO; four stepsons: Michael Treaster and his wife, Tracy, Donald Treaster and his wife, Lisa, Christopher Treaster, and Steven Treaster and his wife, April, all of Hannibal, MO; one stepdaughter, Brenda Smith and her husband, Donnie, of Hannibal; nine grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Winds of Pentecost Church in St. Charles, MO.
