Obituary of David Roy Owens

David Roy “Yogi” Owens, 76, of Elsberry, MO passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 6, 2024 at his home. He was born February 18, 1947 in Colfax, Washington, to Lester A. Owens and Hilda Mary (Beplate) Owens. Yogi was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and papa. He was a 1965 graduate of Potlatch High. Yogi was employed by Emerald Creek Garnet Mine, Benawah County Road District, and Wilkes Logging as a log truck driver. After moving to Missouri, Yogi retired from McClain’s Lumber. He was also an active member of the upper River Saddle Club and competed in the State Competition for tug of war in Idaho and Montana. David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hilda Owens. Survivors include his children: Susan Reaves and her husband, Justin, of Elsberry, MO and David Owens of Elsberry; and eight grandchildren: Taylor Owens, Samantha Bates, Ashton Fortune, Olivia Reaves, Hannah Owens, Haleigh Owens, Harper Owens and Journi Owens. David also leaves two brothers: Duane Owens and his wife, Linda, of Potlach, ID and Raymond Owens and his wife, Charly, of Santa, ID; his sister, Mary Ann Hendrix and her husband, Dennis, of Potlatch, ID; several nieces, nephews, friends and his dog, Popcorn. Services for David will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Freeze Church (W. Freeze Road) Potlatch, ID 83855. Memorials may be made to the Family of David R.
