Obituary of William Kenneth Jenkins

Memorial Services for William Kenneth “Ken” Jenkins of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Mr. Jenkins, 71, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 2, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born September 18, 1952 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of John Weaver and Ava Mozell Dean Jenkins. Ken was a graduate of Metropolitan High School in Dallas, TX. He worked as a custodian for the Winfield R-4 School District, retiring in 2001. Ken was a longtime volunteer for Lincoln County Roadrunners Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ava Jenkins; one granddaughter, Kennedy Jenkins, who died August 9, 2020; his daughter-in-law, Desiree Jenkins; one brother, Johnny Earl Jenkins; and two sisters: Ninah Schmidt and Glenda Tharp. Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Sandra Jenkins of Elsberry; their sons: Michael Jenkins and his wife, Katherine, of Troy, MO, Christopher Jenkins of Elsberry and Christopher “Turtle” and Melinda Shaw of Troy; and four grandchildren: William Colbert-Brown, Serenity Jenkins, Lee Shaw and Danielle Shaw. William also leaves two sisters: Virnell Foster of California and Charlotte Kirby of South Carolina; his brother, Martin Jenkins; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of the Service at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
