Obituary of Carl Matthew Burkemper

Funeral Mass for Carl Matthew Burkemper of Old Monroe, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Joseph Post, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, MO, will officiate with inurnment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Hayden Burkemper, Brayden Reynolds, Joey Burkemper, Mason Dunston and Maxwell Dunston. Carl, 70, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at his home. Born May 30, 1953 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Bernard Luke and Cleo Arlene Mueller Burkemper. Carl was united in marriage on September 7, 1974 in St. Paul to Mary Jane Heppermann. This union was blessed with three children: Carl, Chris and Colleen. Carl worked as a Custodian for St. Charles County Parks Department, retiring in April 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Cleo Burkemper; and one brother-in-law, Ronnie East. Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Jane Burkemper; their children: Carl Burkemper and his wife, Debbie, Chris Burkemper and his wife, Angie, and Colleen Dunston and her husband, Brian; and seven grandchildren: Haleigh, Hayden, Brayden, Malia, Joey, Mason and Maxwell. Carl also leaves his siblings: Ginny East, Neal Burkemper and his wife, Janice, Mark Burkemper and his wife, Carole, Vicki Schneider and her husband, Donnie, Cheryl Vogt and her husband, Mike, and Luke Burkemper and his wife, Barb; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
