Obituary of Sharon Louise Roberts

Sharon Louise Roberts, 80, of Troy, MO passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. Sharon was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Alfred Henry Andrew Brandes and Lillian Marie Elizabeth Walz Brandes. She was an only child. The family lived in Overland, Missouri. Sharon attended Old Overland Elementary, New Overland Elementary, then Hoech Middle School. She graduated from Ritenour Senior High in St Louis, Missouri. She started college at St. Johns Jr College in Winfield, KS, she attended for a year. Sharon attended San Diego State College for a year. She then received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Education from the University of Missouri. After graduating, Sharon completed her student teaching at Mercy Catholic High School in University City. She decided teaching wasn’t for her, she hated it! Sharon then attended Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri and received a second Master Degree in Business. Sharon worked at San Diego Park and Rec, Home Federal Savings Bank, and at Sedgewick (where she retired in 2008). Sharon married James Williams in 1961. They were divorced in 1967. She met James Ellsworth Roberts in 1968 in California and they married on August 23, 1970. They moved back to Winfield, MO in 1972 and lived at her family's Skelly Station on Highway 47. They bought a house on Horseshoe Bend Drive in Winfield, Missouri in 1984. She was blessed to be a bonus mother to Jim's 4 kids. She was widowed in October of 2005. Sharon is survived by her beloved Harry DeVore, her children: Paula (Ty) Reed, Teresa (Tracy) Mack, and Michael (Brenda) Roberts; grandchildren: Jaime, Kevyn, Jacki, Jason, Curtis, Justin, and Randa; and 20 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband (James Ellsworth Roberts), son (James Anthony Roberts), 2 great grandchildren (Nicolas Ryan Matt and Camille Aurora Matt). Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon.
