Obituary of Gilbert Wayne Riffle

Funeral Services for Gilbert Wayne Riffle of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Rev. Richard Pillers, pastor of the Elsberry Assembly of God Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Dwayne Fielder, Rick LaFata, Josh Turner, Adrian Riffle, Jim “Highway” Paris, Eric Riffle, Mason Stahl, Drake Stahl and Christopher Cato.

Mr. Riffle, 62, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2017 at his home.  Born June 4, 1955 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of John Robert and Lelia Belle McAfee Riffle.  Gil attended the Elsberry schools.  He enjoyed sports including basketball, football and Cardinals baseball.  Gil was united in marriage to Cindy Kay Cato.  He was a member of the Elsberry Holiness Church.

Gil was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lelia Riffle; one sister, Carol Ann Riffle Mills; and one brother, Robert Lowry Fielder.

Survivors include his beloved wife of twenty-seven years, Cindy Riffle of Elsberry; one daughter, Johanna Marie Stahl of O’Fallon, MO; one son, Gilbert “Shane” Riffle and his wife, Tiffany, also of O’Fallon; one stepson, Timothy Wade Cato and his girlfriend, Kasie, of Foley, MO; and twelve grandchildren: Jaden, Mason and Drake Stahl, Sophia, Ella, Blaise, Rocco and Roman Riffle, Christopher, Emma, Mason and Hunter Cato.  Gil also leaves two brothers: John “Mike” Riffle and his wife, Sheree, of Moscow Mills, MO, Larry Eugene Riffle of Troy, MO; two sisters: Mary Louise Robinson and her husband, Bob, of Lake of the Ozarks, MO and Kathy Dianne Morgan of Elsberry; one sister-in-law, Diane Fielder of Troy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to P.A.L.S of Lincoln County in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
