Obituary of Ruby Naomi Budd

Ruby Naomi Budd of Elsberry, MO, passed away early Friday morning, December 30, 2016. Born February 24, 1931, in Elsberry, MO, she was the daughter of Phillip Edward and Cora Lee McGee McGuire. She attended local schools and was a 1949 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1951 to Herschel Birt Tiller. This union was blessed with two children: Phillip Birt and Lesa Catherine. As a teen, Ruby performed in rope-trick and knife-throwing shows with her brother, Jim. She was known for her love of cooking and ballroom dancing. Ruby was a member of the Rebekahs and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She served as a Scout leader when her children were young. After retiring from a career at Dillard’s Department Store, Ruby doted on her grandchildren and was so happy to see them attain adulthood. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Cora McGuire; one brother, Lee Edward "Pete" McGuire; one sister, Sophie Stonebraker; three half-brothers, Earl Groves, James Hartford Groves and Presley Carson Groves; four half-sisters: Ethel Groves, Mary Geneva Groves, Martha Morris and Nell “Helen” Marie. Survivors include one son, Phillip Tiller of Winfield, MO; one daughter, Lesa Miller and her husband, Dr. Stanley Miller of Elsberry, MO; four grandchildren: Christopher Tiller of Elsberry, MO, Addie Tiller of Troy, MO, Devon Miller Patiño and her husband Alexander of Webster Groves, MO, and Emma Miller of St. Louis, MO. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. According to her wishes, Ruby's body was donated to science and there will be no services. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
