Obituary of Steven Thomas Missey

A Mass of Christian Burial for Steven Thomas Missey of Troy, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe, MO. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate. Mr. Missey, 68, passed away Tuesday morning, November 29, 2016 at his home. Born September 27, 1948 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Thomas Arnold and Christine Edna Keil Missey. Steven was a 1965 graduate of Ritenour High School in St. Louis. He went on to attend Logan Chiropractic College for 2 years. Steven served his country in the United States Air Force from September 1, 1970 until he was honorably discharged on November 17, 1974 as a Sergeant. He was employed as the Director of Safety at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for a number of years. Steven worked with the Special Olympics in Illinois for 20 years and was a former Boy Scout Leader. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Christine Missey; one sister, Gloria Nash; and one brother, Bob Missey. Survivors include his sister, Betty Hansen and her husband, Gerald, of Moscow Mills, MO; and his nieces: Tina Churchill of Truxton, MO, Laurie Ann Hensley of Catawissa, MO, Sheryl Missey, Andrea Stumpf and Lori Uskiwich, all of St. Louis; nephews: Scott Hansen of Moscow Mills, Gary Nash of St. Louis, Robert Missey of Florissant, MO and Glenn Nash, also of St. Louis. Steven also leaves numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
