Obituary of Barbara Louise Hopkins

Memorial Services for Barbara Louise Hopkins of Troy, MO will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Elsberry in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Sam Byers, church pastor, will officiate. Mrs Hopkins, 88, passed away Sunday night, July 3, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born December 11, 1927 in Gladstone, MO, she was the daughter of Guy W. and Mary Louise Wolfe Clardy. Barbara was united in marriage in May 1944 in Denver, CO to Daniel William Hopkins. This union was blessed with three daughters: Vicky, Melissa and Carolyn. She was a loving homemaker. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Louise Clardy; one sister, Carol Hanks; one brother, Guy Clardy; and her beloved husband, Daniel Hopkins, who died in November 1993. Survivors include three daughters: Vicky Penland of Lenexa, KS, Melissa Throgmorton and her husband, John, of Troy, MO, and Carolyn Hopkins of Webster, WI; four grandchildren: Christopher Penland, Eric Maytas, Travis Moser and Jennifer Penland; and four great-grandchildren: Evan Moser, Lilly Moser, Ariana Maytas and Elias Moser; other relatives and friends.
