Obituary of Jerry Donald Watson

Funeral services for Jerry Donald Watson of Moscow Mills, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Watson, Jeff Watson, Dionisio Glimka, Roger Putney, Jack Putney and Henry Putney. Mr. Watson, 76, passed away Monday night, April 14, 2014 at his home. Born October 19, 1937 in Salem, MO, he was the son of Earl and Juanita Bolin Watson. He served his country in the United States Air Force from June 21, 1955 until being honorably discharged on February 26, 1959. He was united in marriage on February 23, 1960 in Haywood, MO to Imogene "Jean" Slavings. This union was blessed with four children: Joe, Jeff, Joy and Jilicia. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a bulk mail flow controller, retiring in July 1997 after 37 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Juanita Watson; one daughter, Jilicia Jean Watson; one brother, Charles Watson; and one sister, Mary Helen Putney. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean Watson of Moscow Mills; two sons: Jeff Watson of Moscow Mills and Joe Bluestone and his wife, Bobbi, of Moscow Mills; one daughter, Joy Glimka and her husband, Dionisio of Troy, MO; and four grandchildren: Jessie, Gavin, Madeline and Kip. He also leaves several nephews, nieces and other relatives. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to S.I.D.S.
