Obituary of Ada Belle Ricks

Funeral Services for Ada Belle Ricks of Hannibal, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at the A.R.Presbyterian Church in Elsberry under the direction of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Matt VerMeer, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal, MO, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Davis, Jim Sutton, Bryan Johnson, Bryan Davis and Charles Cohoon. Mrs. Ricks, 93, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 6, 2014 at the Luther Manor in Hannibal, MO. Born March 24, 1920 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Ralph Hurd and Lula Lee Capps Graham, Sr. She was a 1940 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on November 27, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to Ernest Freeman "Jack" Ricks. This union was blessed with two daughters, Myra and Donna. She was a 50+year member of the Order of Eastern Star, in Louisiana, MO. She was a life-long member of the Elsberry A.R.Presbyterian Church. Ada Belle loved to crochet. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lula Graham, Sr.; two brothers: one who died in infancy and Ralph Graham, Jr.; two sisters, Joyce Stewart and Katherine Ives; and her beloved husband of 27 years, Jack Ricks who died May 24, 1972. Survivors include two daughters: Myra Sutton and her husband, James, of Hannibal, and Donna Davis and her husband, Robert "Bob", of Eolia; two grandchildren: Amy Sutton Johnson and her husband, Bryan, of Hannibal, and Bryan Q. Davis and his wife, Brandy, of Eolia; six great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Johnson, Joni Johnson and Kyle Johnson, Tyler Davis, Lily Crosson and Jackson Davis; and one great, great-grandchild. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Stewart of Moscow Mills, MO; her sister-in-law, Donna Dunnard of Troy, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Elsberry A.R.Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry A.R.Presbyterian Church or to the Hannibal Nutrition Center in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 South Fifth Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
