Obituary of Lewis Francis Lavy

Funeral Services for Lewis Francis Lavy of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Bob Hutsell, pastor of Praying Hands Church of Louisiana, MO, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Jess Edward Lavy, Kenny Gregory Lavy, Lloyd Douglas Farmer, Lisa Mae Farmer, Duke Bufford and Ronnie Vaughn. Mr. Lavy, 74, passed away Saturday morning, May 25, 2013 at Silex Community Care Center near Silex, MO. Born May 26, 1938 in St. Charles, MO he was the son of Jess Francis and Ruby M. Yarnell Lavy. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1963 in Elsberry, MO to Latricia Gail Kerpash. This union was blessed with two children: Jess Edward and Lisa Mae. He worked for a number of years as supervisor of municipal water utilities for Rock Island, IL and Tampa, FL, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Praying Hands Church in Louisiana, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Ruby Lavy; twin infant sisters; two brothers: Jesse C. and Bill Lavy; two sisters: Ellen Lavy and Rubin Bell Lavy; one step-brother, Delray Lavy and one step-sister, Babe Collins. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Gail Lavy of Elsberry; one son, Jesse Lavy and his wife, Robbin, of Elsberry; one daughter: Lisa Farmer and her husband, Lloyd of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren: Christina Ann Elston and her husband, Don, Jesse James Lavy, Kenneth Gregory Lavy and Tiffany Amber Farmer; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Bob Lavy and his wife, Shirley, of Chillicothe, IL; one sister, Rillia Lavy Poteet and her husband, Jim, of Bellflower, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Family of Lewis F. Lavy in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343
