Obituary of Charlette Bernice Ridings

Memorial services for Charlette Bernice Ridings of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate. Mrs. Ridings, 72, passed away with her beloved husband, children and sister at her side on Saturday morning, April 6, 2013 at Barnes St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born May 3, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, MO, she was the oldest of seven children born to William C. and Beatrice Wagoner Moore. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, IL; and earned an Associates Degree from Florissant Valley Community College. She was united in marriage on December 23, 1960 in Cairo, IL to Wayne L. Ridings. This union was blessed with two children, Terry and Kristy. She was employed for over twenty-five years as a computer analyst at the U.S. Army Records Center in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 2000. In 1998, Wayne and Charlette moved to the Elsberry community from Overland, MO. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Elsberry. Charlette was preceded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice Moore; and one sister, Sharon Moore. Survivors include her beloved husband of 52 years, Wayne Ridings of Elsberry; one son, Terry Ridings and his wife, Tammera, of Maryland Heights, MO; one daughter, Kristy Ridings Gardner and her husband, Rodney, of Florissant, MO; and four grandchildren, Bradley, Matthew, Katie and Taylor. She also leaves four sisters: Cheryle Dillon and her husband, Pat, of McClure, IL, Christy Moore and her husband, Paul, of Ocala, FL, Marty Sadler and her husband, Jim, of Anna, IL, and Rebecca Mattey (Glen) of Ocala, FL; one brother, Charles D. Moore (Pam) of Jackson, MO; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
