Obituary of Wilma Irene Sullenger

Funeral Services for Wilma Irene Sullenger of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Her son, Rev. Thomas W. Sullenger, of Cape Girardeau, MO and Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of United Methodist Church in Elsberry, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Sara Manion, Garry W. Stewart, Tim Sullenger, Dixie Williams, Kent Sullenger and Carter Manion. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristen Manion, Emily Manion, Bob DeGeare, Jim Henry, Steve Bruckerhoff and Jim Holley. Mrs. Sullenger, 84, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 12, 2013 at her home. Born April 14, 1928 in Alma, NE, she was the daughter of Luther and Alice Marshal Heathers. She was united in marriage at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center Chapel in Denver, CO to Murry William "Bill" Sullenger. This union was blessed with two children: Tom and Pam. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Galloway Elevator, retiring in 1990. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Alice Heathers; four sisters: Lois Hughes, Dorothy Bond, Anna Richardson and Alene Raymer; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill Sullenger on February 18, 2007. Survivors include one son, Rev. Tom Sullenger and his wife, Candie, of Cape Girardeau; one daughter: Pam Stewart and her husband, Garry, of Elsberry; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters: Emily Ballman and her husband, Jerome, of O'Fallon, MO and Sylvia Rosserelli of Arvada, CO; one sister-in-law, Pat York of Louisiana, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Smith Chapel UMC or Palmer Library in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
