Obituary of Charles Erskine Railey

Funeral Services for Charles "Chuck" Erskine Railey of Foley, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. James Morgan and Rev. Roy McClain, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Moander, Craig Brinkman, Del Brinkman, Russell Sommerlad, Fred Horstman, Gary Kreienheder, Wayne Lindberg and David Lilley. Chuck, 75, went into the presence of the Lord Wednesday evening, November 14, 2012 at his home, surrounded by friends and family. Born July 20, 1937 in Kenton, OH, he was the son of C. Marion and Mazie Isabelle McClure Railey. Although from Ohio, Chuck claimed Kentucky as his home. He was a 1955 graduate of Miamisburg, OH High School. He worked his way through Tri-State University in Angola, IN, graduating in 1959 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was married to Marilyn Burton in 1958. This union was blessed with four daughters: Dawn, Carol, Brenda and Annette. In 1986 Chuck married Carol Beck Morgan in Foristell, MO. He was blessed to become the step-father of her two sons: James and Brian. Chuck worked as a Senior Staff Engineer for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO. While employed at McDonnell Douglas, he was also a Design Engineer for F-4 and F-18 Fighter Jets and Supplier Manager with the Israeli and Swiss Air Force. He retired in December 1998 after 36 years of employment. After his retirement, he began driving a school bus in the Winfield, Troy and Silex School Districts until 2008. He was a member of the Air Force Association and Presidential Prayer Team. He worshiped at Calvary Chapel in Winfield. He loved being with people and working anyway he could for the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Marion and Mazie Railey; and one sister, Roberta Pacheco. Survivors include his beloved wife of 26 years, Carol Railey, of Foley; four daughters: Dawn Burhart and her husband, Paul, of Adrian, MO, Carole Duncan and her husband, Mike, Brenda Wagemaker and her husband, Bill, of Topeka, KS and Annette Railey; two step-sons: James Morgan and his wife, Carla, of Lee's Summit, MO and Brian Morgan and his wife, Kathy, of Elsberry, MO; and fourteen grandchildren: Joshua Morgan and his wife, Ashley, Hannah Morgan, Jennifer, Reagan and Ashley Morgan, Emily, Billy, Abigail and Sophie Wagemaker, Zach and Conner Duncan, Jessie Burhart and his wife, Kelly, Ray Burhart and his wife, Jessica, and Maria Roth and her husband, Joseph; one great-grandchild, Elodie Roth; and two step-great-grandchildren: Ariana and Vander Grooms. He also leaves two sisters: Fern McClain and her husband, Roy, of Georgetown, IN and Mazie Railey of Louisville, KY; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
