Obituary of Ernest Junior Slaughter

Funeral Services for Ernest Junior Slaughter of Whiteside, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. James Skinner, pastor of Silex Assembly of God Church in Silex, MO, will officiate. Mr. Slaughter, 73, passed away Friday morning, November 8, 2012 at his home in Whiteside. Born February 24, 1939 in Portageville, MO, he was the son of Ernest Henry and Minnie Novelle Matheny Slaughter. He was united in marriage on May 3, 1958 in Whiteside to Eloise Zumwalt. This union was blessed with three children: Laura Denise, Patricia Lynn and Chadford Wayne. He worked for many years as an auto worker for General Motors in Wentzville, MO, retiring February 1, 1993. Mr. Slaughter was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #2250 in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of Silex Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Minnie Slaughter; three brothers: Preston Henry Slaughter as an infant, James Slaughter in 1989 and Billy Wayne Slaughter in 2000; one sister-in-law, Edna Slaughter in 2009; and his son, Chad Slaughter in 1985. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Eloise Slaughter of Whiteside; two daughters: Laura Denise Weatherford and her husband, Mark, of Frankford, MO, and Patricia Lynn Slaughter of Whiteside; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers: Cecil Slaughter of Milan, TN, Don Slaughter and his wife, Virginia, and Calvin Slaughter and his wife, Wanda, all of Elsberry; two sisters: Betty Momphard and her husband Raymond "Pistol", and Jean Hardy, all of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Silex Assembly of God Church, Whiteside Schoolhouse or Clopton Alumni Association; 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
