Obituary of James Keith Stewart

Funeral services for James Keith Stewart of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Doug Roam, pastor of the Elsberry Apostolic Pentecostal Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Garry Wayne Stewart, Sara Manion, Wade King, Joseph Harding, Garry Lee Stewart, Randy Daniels, Craig Hemphill and Richard Harding; and honorary pallbearers will be J.T. Harding, Ed Powell, Bill Yokel, Tim Rutledge, Larry Wright, Bob Wright, Bill Blakey, Don Mirrick and Matt Clark. Mr. Stewart, 67, passed away early Saturday morning, February 22, 2014 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO. Born December 15, 1946 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of James Wayne and Trula Lee Hemphill Stewart. Raised in Elsberry, he was a 1965 graduate of Elsberry High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from November 16, 1966 until being honorably discharged as a Private First Class on February 24, 1968. He was united in marriage on September 1, 2012 in Elsberry to Lois Ann Hunter Harding. He was employed for a number of years by Hussmann Refrigeration in St. Louis, MO. Keith was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Elsberry. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Trula Stewart; and one son, Randy Jett. Survivors include his wife, Lois Stewart of Elsberry; one son, Todd Collins and his wife, Lenae, of Wentzville, MO; two daughters: Lisa Evans and her husband, John, of Elsberry, and Angie Jett and her companion, Jason VanHoozier, of Moscow Mills, MO; three step-sons: Richard Harding II and his wife, Shelley of Elsberry, John "J.T." Harding of Pennsylvania, and Joseph Harding and his wife, Mary Beth, of Elsberry; and several grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Garry Stewart and his wife, Pam, of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
