Obituary of Carol Jean Schulte
Carol J. Schulte
A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Jean Schulte of Old Monroe, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe. Fr. Michael Lampe, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Gutermuth, Tom Schulte, Kevin Schulte, Doug Weber, Lane Weber and Cody Weber.
Carol, 77, passed away Saturday morning, July 11, 2026 at her home. Born January 17, 1949 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Edward and Adele Schumann Gutermuth. Carol was a graduate of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on November 23, 1968 in Old Monroe to Eugene Robert Schulte. This union was blessed with two children: Matthew and Karen. Carol worked as the Assistant Vice President for Bank of Old Monroe, retiring after 36 years. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was part of the Ladies Sodality, Quilting Committee and the Funeral Luncheon Committee.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Adele (Schumann) Gutermuth; her son, Matt Schulte, who died on August 17, 2019; four brothers: Kenneth Gutermuth, Robert Gutermuth and his wife, Adele, Larry Gutermuth and Sylvester Gutermuth; two sisters: Velma Weber and her husband, Henry, and Judy Hoeckelmann and her husband, Bernard; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Survivors include her beloved husband of nearly 58 years, Gene Schulte of Old Monroe; their daughter, Karen Franklin and her husband, Scott, of Silex, MO; two grandchildren: Abbey Franklin of Silex and Mandy Flood and her husband, Anthony, of Bowling Green, MO; and two great-grandsons: Walker and Waylon Flood. Carol also leaves two brothers: Raymond Gutermuth and his wife, Darlene, of St. Charles and Richard Gutermuth and his wife, Janie, of Winfield; four sisters: Vernie Lindemann and her husband, Dale, of St. Charles, Mae Henke and her husband, Hilbert, of Old Monroe, Anna Marie Kilcher of St. Charles, and Sue Richards of Elsberry, MO; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
