Obituary of Leona Ida Forbeck
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leona Ida Forbeck of Old Monroe, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Lampe, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Robertson, Marc Benavidez, David Himmel, Michael Himmel, Justin Forbeck and Chris Piel.
Leona, 98, passed away Monday evening, June 8, 2026 at her home. Born August 7, 1927 in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of Fred C. and Bertha Anna Dickmeyer Uthe. Leona was united in marriage on February 12, 1944 in Old Monroe to Robert Henry Forbeck. This union was blessed with six children: Dorothy, James, Delmar, Norma, Dennis and Darrell.
Over the years, she held a number of jobs to supplement the family income including: Mears Heel Company in Troy, MO from 1961-1964, RC Can Co. in Hazelwood, Parts Exchange in Elsberry, and lastly Harper and Row in Troy, from where she retired in 1982. Leona was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Robert and Leona were members of Starcraft camping club, plus enjoyed camping at numerous Missouri State Parks. Leona also attended OATS meetings as well as enjoying many trips with OATS.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bertha Uthe; two brothers: Albert Uthe and Edwin Uthe; one sister, Elsie Uthe, who passed as a young child; one daughter, Dorothy Himmel; and her beloved husband of 74 years, Robert Forbeck who died on May 19, 2018.
Survivors include four sons: James Forbeck and his companion Paulette Doerhoff of Old Monroe, Delmar Forbeck and his wife, Barbara of Old Monroe, Dennis Forbeck and his wife, Sharon, of McDonald, TN, and Darrell Forbeck and his wife, Lori, of Old Monroe; one daughter, Norma Luck and her husband, Lyn, of Troy, MO; and one son-in-law, Marvin Himmel of Moscow Mills, MO. Additional survivors include fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO. Memorials may be made to the OATS in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
