Obituary of Charles Lee Wood, Jr.

Graveside Services for Charles Lee “Jesse” Wood, Jr. of Warrenton, MO will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate. Services will be under that direction of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Jesse, 76, was born on July 30, 1949 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Charles Lee Wood, Sr. and Hazel Violet Parker Wood. He passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at his home in Warrenton. Jesse was employed for many years as a barrel roller for H. J. Cooper. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 688 in St. Louis, MO. Jesse enjoyed spending time with his family, and going to garage sales and flee markets. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel Wood, Sr.; one brother, Frank Wood; two sisters: Sandra and Mary Ellen; one sister-in-law, Roma Wood; two brothers-in-law: Rick Wallace and Jerry Buckner. Survivors include his son, Jody Mac Wood of New Haven, MO; two brothers: Richard Wood of Richview, IL, and Alfred Wood and his wife, Sandy, of Troy, MO; two sisters: Cheri Buckner of O’Fallon, MO, and Catherine Wallace of Elsberry; and his former wife, Janice Lamke of New Haven. Jesse also leaves his companion, Shari Tyson of Warrenton, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Friends and family will gather at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. for the funeral procession to the Elsberry City Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service.
