Obituary of Roy Kay Emert

Full Military Funeral Honors for Roy Kay Emert of Elsberry, MO will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Roy, 81, was born on February 2, 1945 in Pleasant Hill IL, the son of Clifford and Frieda Cyring Emert. He passed away early Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026 at his residence in Elsberry. Roy served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years from March, 1969 until he was honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer E-7 on November 30, 1989. He was united in marriage on November 12, 1987 in Elsberry to Bertha Ann Waller. This union was blessed with three children: Karl, Jay and Crystal Gail (Warren). Roy was employed for many years by the Wayne B. Smith Rock Quarry as a parts man, retiring in 2004. He continued working as a Merchant Marine for several years following his retirement. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Frieda Emert; two brothers, Donnie Emert and Eddie Emert; his sister Joyce Koener; his daughter Crystal Warren on August 8, 2008; and his loving wife, Bertha Emert, who passed away April 3, 2022. Survivors include his sons, Karl Emert of Elsberry, and Siegfried “Jay” Tiegs (Lacy) of Columbia MO; step-daughter Brittney Kearnes (Nick) of Elsberry, three step-sons A.J. Hunter (Kimberly) of Paynesville MO, Benjamin Eckwood of Elsberry, and Dennis Petty of Clarksville, MO; eighteen grandchildren: Dearl, Juanna, Donavin, Steven, Mathew, Michael, Savannah, Danielle, John, Charity, Tye, KK, Katarina, Paige, Samantha, Phoebe, lil Ben and Anthony; and five great-grandchildren: Jackson, Malaya, Kalina, Ezra and KyKy. He also leaves three brothers Clifford Emert, Lloyd Emert and Bill Emert: two sisters, Louise Lawless and Anna Walker; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 with Military Honors beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
