Obituary of Frank Charles Wood

Memorial Services for Frank Charles Wood of Elsberry, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate. Frank, 85, was born on February 17, 1941 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Charles Lee and Hazel Violet Parker Wood. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, surrounded by his family (his sister, Catherine, his nephew, Timothy, his niece, Renee Young, and his great-nephew, Sydney Wallace.) Frank was a 1959 graduate of Ferguson High School. He served his country in the United States Army, freely and without hesitation, from February 12, 1960 until his honorable discharge on February 11, 1963. Frank worked as an oil engineer for Carnegie Mellon, retiring in 1999. Frank was a giver. He gave unconditionally, without asking for anything in return. To some, he was Santa Claus, giving the only gifts they received. Frank was the person his siblings went to for help. He was from the silent generation, not expressing his feelings of endearment, but rather showed the family by the way he treated people. Frank was loved by many and will be truly missed by all. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel Wood; two sisters: Sandra and Mary Ellen; one sister-in-law, Roma Wood; and two brothers-in-law: Rick Wallace and Jerry Buckner. Survivors include three brothers: Richard Wood of Richview, IL, Jesse Wood of Warrenton, MO and Alfred Wood and his wife, Sandy, of Troy, MO; two sisters: Cheri Buckner of O’Fallon, MO and Catherine Wallace of Elsberry; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Family of Frank Wood to assist with final expenses in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
