Obituary of Nancy Jane Bates

Memorial Services for Nancy Jane Bates of Winfield, MO will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Deacon Neal Westhoff of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO will officiate. Nancy, 67, passed away Monday afternoon, March 2, 2026 at her home. Born December 11, 1958 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Robert Joe and Matilda Van Der Haar Bates. Nancy worked as a travel agent for Maritz Travel and later Carlson Wagonlit Travel for 25 years; and most recently as a cashier for County Market in Winfield. She was united in marriage in April 2012 in Troy, MO to Thomas Stephen How. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Matilda Bates; one brother, Joe Bates; and two sisters: Margie Hallenburger and Karen Bates. Survivors include her husband, Tom How of Winfield; and two sisters-in-law, Teresa Price and her husband, Thomas, of Troy, IL and Tanya Stona of Alton, IL; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until time of the Service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
