Obituary of Richard Marion Linthicum, Jr.
Richard Marion “Dick” Linthicum, Jr, 82, passed away Monday afternoon, February 16, 2026 at his home in Winfield, MO. Born November 14, 1943 in Sullivan, MO, he was the son of Richard “Big Dick” Marion and Nellie Hickinbotham Linthicum, Sr.
Dick attended Roosevelt High School. He owned Eagle Auto Body in St. Charles, MO until his retirement in 2005. Dick was united in marriage on November 22, 2006 in Troy, MO to Janet Marie McNabb. He enjoyed flying radio control line airplanes and radio control boats. Dick was an accomplished woodworker, including finishing his own home. He loved to go fishing and collected casting reels. Dick enjoyed time with his grandsons, working on a classic car or fixing things around the home, and watching old westerns with his granddaughter. He was a car enthusiast who specialized vehicles, cool paint jobs and keeping the muscle car/truck era alive. Dick even did a bit of racing in his younger years.
Dick cherished family time, especially meeting up for a meal and family reunions. He spent an enormous amount of time on the phone with family and friends, reminiscing of the good old days when he started out doing body work out of his home garage. Dick loved talking of life he lived in Sullivan, Berkeley, St. Louis, Hillsboro, Arnold, St. Charles and lastly, in the Troy area. He was quick with a joke and loved to laugh. Dick will be remembered as a man of many talents and lover of life.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Big Dick” Linthicum Sr. and Nellie Linthicum; two brothers: Harry Linthicum and Ron King; and one sister, Karen Willis.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 19 years, Janet Linthicum of Winfield; one son, Richard “Rich” Marion Linthicum III and his wife, Kim, of Chester, IL; one daughter, DaNette (nee Linthicum) Chandler and her husband, Marcus, of St. Charles; three grandchildren: Madison Linthicum and Trevor & Skylar Chandler; one step-daughter, Christine Jones and her significant other, Brian Tucker, of O’Fallon, MO; three step-grandchildren: Devon Jones and his significant other, Celest Wilson, Dustin Jones and Maxwell Tucker; and one step-great-granddaughter, Adelyn Jones. Dick also leaves his step-mother, JoAnne Handy and her husband Jim; two brothers: Bryan King and his wife, Cheryl, of St. Louis, MO and Ricky Linthicum and his wife, Pam, of Colorado; three sisters: Janice Williams, Jeanette Sutherland and her husband, Sam, and Anna Mae Morley and her husband, Mel, all of Colorado; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring and will be announced on Facebook. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
