Obituary of Robert Jackson Cannon
Funeral Services for Robert Jackson “Jack” Cannon of Troy, MO will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Karla Cunningham of St. Louis, will officiate with burial in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Cannon, Kyle Cannon, Zach Cannon, Robbie Cannon, Jackson Hanna and Seth Hanna.
Mr. Cannon, 90, passed away late Thursday night, February 12, 2026 at his home in Troy, MO. Born December 26, 1935 in Chesterfield, IL, he was the son of Jesse Andrew and Hazel Roberta Meyers Cannon. He was united in marriage on January 21, 1956 in Old Monroe, MO to Clara Louedith “Lou” Skinner. Jack began his career with Laborer’s local 42 and worked on the construction of the Gateway Arch. In 1969 he joined Sonny Purler and Jim Schulte, to form Purler-Cannon-Schulte, a commercial utilities construction firm, retiring in 2010. He remained a member of Laborer’s local 42. He loved and played all kinds of sports, especially baseball. Jack was an active coon hunter in the county, especially with Wayne Lovelace. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing poker.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Cannon, his mother Hazel Cannon Garner and step-father, Paul Garner; one sister, Bess Kline; one son, Robert “Boog” Cannon; one daughter, Carmen “Candi” Davis; and his beloved wife of 60 years, Lou Cannon who died April 7, 2016.
Survivors include his son, Gary Cannon and his wife, Michelle, of Moscow Mills; his daughter, Kelly Wallace and her husband, Clay, of Warrenton, MO; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Jack also leaves his uncle (who he grew up with like a brother), Frank Meyers and his wife, Judy, of Springfield, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
