Obituary of Tamela Kay Welch

Tamela Kay “Tammy” Campbell Welch was wrapped in the arms of the Lord on December 13, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at her home, holding her daughter’s hand. Tammy was born April 5, 1958, the daughter of Gerald Wayne and Audrey Lynn Webb Campbell. She grew up in Overland, MO, moving to O’Fallon, MO for her senior year of High School. Tammy went to school for medical assisting, graduating at the top of her class. She worked for just a few months before suffering a massive stroke that left her paralyzed. Tammy then learned to walk and talk again. She never let any of that get her down, and continued to smile and fight thru. She is the definition of a warrior. To know Tammy was to know how strong she was. She fought all of life’s battles with grace. Tammy was a loving homemaker, and baby sat for many years, loving all the children as her own. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald “Doc” and Audrey Campbell; one sister, Paula Williamson; her paternal grandparents, Norman and Mary Campbell; and her maternal grandparents, Lois and Aubrey “Jim” Webb. Survivors include her daughter, Carly Welch (Steve) of Elsberry; two granddaughters: Shelby Welch (Tyler) of Troy, MO and Mylie Lamb of Elsberry; and one great-grandson, Jace Tyler Prather. Tammy also leaves one sister, Cheryl Canestraight and her husband, Gary, of Camdenton, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to P.A.L.S. in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
